Roots..a camp for those experiencing family breakdown.

There are 255 000 young people living in Northern Ireland, some of which are dealing with many difficult and overwhelming issues. When a young person brings a difficult issue to your door, it can be difficult to know how to help.

The needs of our young people are vast, and some are complex. If the Christians around them don’t engage with them in the middle of these difficulties, young people often assume that God has no interest in them either.

The Big House Ireland is an interdenominational Christian charity that exists to help young people know God’s love and encounter Jesus, especially when they face difficult life situations. We believe that young people are precious and deeply loved by God – no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they face in life. We want young people to know that there is no difficult day, no dark experience that God cannot bring hope and life into.

Introducing a brand new residential camp for young people experiencing family breakdown.

This year The Big House is excited to announce our brand new ROOTS camp which has been prayerfully designed to help even more young people encounter God in the midst of family breakdown.

What is ROOTS ?

ROOTS is a camp where we will be exploring what it means to be firmly planted in God’s love.

The ROOTS team know that families can split up and that can bring lots of change which at times can be hard…but we also know God can help in the things we find hard.

ROOTS is an action packed weekend; jam packed with dynamic games, beach activities, live music, craft, real life stories and so much more!

When and Where is Roots?

This year ROOTS will be held on the 22nd-24th January 2016 in the stunning surroundings of Murlough House, Dundrum. Murlough House offers lots of indoor and outdoor space for our programme. We even hope to hold some of our activities on the beach and enjoy the breath taking scenery (weather permitting).

Who can come?

ROOTS is especially for young people (aged 12-18) to explore what it means to be planted firmly in God’s love in the midst of family change.

If you, your friends, or young people in your group spring to mind whilst reading this, then we would love to hear from you!

Young people can bring their friend along to ROOTS, and their youth leaders can even come to!

How much does it cost?

ROOTS costs £48 per person, this includes all meals, activities and even some goodies to take home.

How do I book a place?

Our experienced ROOTS team would love to see you and your girls at camp. Check out why one of our team members is excited about this upcoming weekend:

“When I heard about ROOTS I was excited to get involved. Having experienced family change, ROOTS is a weekend I would have loved to have been able to go to and be encouraged by as a young person. Isaiah 61:3 says, ‘They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.’ This has been an important verse to us when thinking about ROOTS as it reminds us that we are firmly planted in God, who cannot be shaken regardless of what we may be going through and who loves us with an everlasting love. ROOTS will be a weekend filled with fun, games, music, building friendships and exploring how we can stay firmly planted in God’s love even in difficult times. I am so looking forward to ROOTS and would encourage anyone who thinks they would enjoy camp to come and join us, or if you know a young person that would benefit from camp to suggest it to them. It’s going to be great!” Christina
